Vin d’Epines

The longer nights drawing in this Autumn were compensated by the first sampling of our home produced apéritif, ‘vin d’épines’, a particularly rural, hedgerow speciality from the Poitou-Charentes region. We only made three litres, really just to see if it was drinkable, and stored it in a lovely, big old bottle, which was just sitting on a shelf gathering dust. The unanimous verdict is to make alot more in 2011 and to offer this warming, comforting drink to our gîte guests in the cooler months.
